Corbyn's Bully Boys

For a man who claims to be a pacifist, Corbyn seems somewhat relaxed about allowing others to bully and intimidate those who disagree with his "pacifist" views.

It is not good enough that only his ex girlfriend expresses concern at the thuggery carried out in the name of "peace/Corbyn".

Cameron knows that there is probably little that can be done to make a significant change to the UK's treaty obligations within the EU. However, because he wants us to remain in the EU, he will create as much noise and bluster as possible wrt making a show of "renegotiation".

Boris is wisely avoiding hypotheticals, until the reality of the "success" or "failure" of Cameron's "renegotiations" are known.

After that he can then use whatever the outcome is to aid his bid to lead the Tories.

Corbyn Begins Purge

As per the Telegraph:
"A critic of Jeremy Corbyn has been blocked from running for Labour in the first by-election under his leadership after trade unions allegedly “vetoed” her candidacy.
Kate Godfrey, who was a parliamentary candidate at the last election and has attacked Mr Corbyn’s choice of aides, was rejected within hours of applying to run in Oldham West and Royton."
And so it begins!

Time To Move On - Government Abandons Bin Pledge

The government is to abandon its pledge to restore weekly bin collections.

A government, abandoning a pledge??

Surely not!?

The Telegraph quotes a government source:
It is a very expensive scheme and it has proved to be a pretty ineffective one.
It would be very surprising if it survives the spending review.

There are other priorities.

It’s time to move on.”
Maybe political parties should stop promising what they know they can't deliver!

Sturgeon Scuppered By EU

It seems that Sturgeon doesn't get "free trade"!
"Nicola Sturgeon’s plan to introduce a minimum price for alcohol in Scotland has suffered a potentially fatal blow after the European Court’s most senior legal official ruled it would infringe the EU’s free trade rules.
Advocate General Yves Bot found that fixing a legal price for alcoholic beverages could only be justified if the Scottish Government could prove that alternative means, such as increasing taxation, would not be a “suitable means of curbing excessive consumption”."

Corbyn's Victorian Values

Jeremy Corbyn, worried about the inflammatory effect that the exposed table and chair legs have on men, will (one he is crowned Prime Minister) enact legislation that makes it mandatory for table and chair legs to be covered up with a thick velvet cloth.

Proving to all of those that doubted him that he is not a throw back to old Labour socialism of the 1970's, but in fact is a man with strongly held Victorian values a true conservative of the old school!

Labour In Meltdown

Yesterday Labour's website crashed, as a result of the surge in voter registrations for Labour's car crash leadership election.

Wednesday 12 August 2015

Stop The Labour Election

As the protracted car crash that is the Labour leadership election continues, some in the party are finally waking up to the fact that not only will Corbyn win (and thus destroy the party) but that Corbyn's victory will be brought about by voters within the party who are not in fact Labour supporters.

Simon Danczuk Labour MP for Rochadale said that Labour's interim leader Harriet Harman should halt the leadership contest and call an emergency meeting to take stock of the "infiltration" by those he said were not genuine party supporters.

He believes that the process may have to be rerun, and warned that if Mr Corbyn wins he would not be able to command discipline amongst Labour MPs - many of whom would not vote for "crazy left-wing stuff".

Only Labour could make such a mess of their own party, and become such a laughing stock!

Burnham To Bring Back Rationing

As the never ending Labour leadership contest lurches from absurdity to absurdity, Andy Burnham is trying to out do Corbyn in taking Labour even further back in time than the early 80's.

Today Burnham will make a speech entitled "Recapturing The Spirit of '45", in a bid to recapture the spirit of Clement Attlee’s Government, and slam the modern Labour Party for being “too frightened by its own shadow”.

As such, he intends to bring back rationing and national service.

Monday 27 July 2015

A Very Labour Coup

It seems that Labour is so fearful of Corbyn that, if he wins the leadership contest, there will be a coup within the party to remove him before the next general election in 2020.

So much for democracy eh?

Leadership By Example In Glasgow

As per the Evening Times, it appears that some Glaswegian councillors have a wee bit of reluctance paying their council tax bills:
"More than a third of Glasgow’s councillors have been rapped for failing to pay council tax, new figures show.

Over the past two years, 27 councillors have been sent reminder notices advising that they had fallen behind with payments.

The figures, obtained by Freedom of Information laws, show that 10 councillors had to be reminded to pay their council tax in 2013-2014 and 11 failed to make payments the following year.

So far this year – in four months – six councillors out of 75 have been sent reminder notices by the local authority
."
This does not bode well for the finances of a country that wishes to become independent and manage its own affairs without subsidy from England.
